NFL Football Trivia

Image : http://www.flickr.com
he NFL has become one of America's favorite sports. We all wait with anticipation for fall to arrive, because with fall comes NFL football, when we can relax on Sunday afternoon and watch our favorite football teams battle it out in the hunt for the playoffs, and if all goes well, the Super Bowl. This following list will describe everything you need to know about NFL football trivia.
Ten facts about NFL football trivia:
1. Walter Camp wrote the first rules for American football in 1876. It wasn't until many years later that he became known as the father of American football.
2. In 1920, the Chicago Cardinals organization, later to become the Arizona Cardinals, was formed. A year later the Green Bay Packers organization was formed, bought by Curly Lambeau. These two teams are the oldest teams currently in existence in the NFL.
3. The biggest point margin for a win in NFL history was in the 1940 championship game between the Chicago Bears and the Washington Redskins. The Bears mauled the Redskins, beating them 73-0.
4. The AFL and NFL merged on June 8th, 1966.
5. On January 15th, 1967, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 35-10 to become the first team to win the newly formed Super Bowl.
6. The Miami Dolphins defeated the Washington Redskins 14-7 on January 14, 1973, to become the first and only team to have a perfect season. The New England Patriots are the only other NFL team to ever come that close. They had a perfect season all the way to the Super Bowl in 2008, but eventually lost to the New York Giants.
7. Through the years, there have always been certain teams that defined the decade, becoming a dynasty in their own right. During the 60's, it was the Green Bay Packers. The 70's welcomed the Pittsburgh Steelers, with four Super Bowl wins. The 80's belonged to the San Francisco 49ers and the 90's to the Dallas Cowboys. Nothing's officially been said yet, but it seems that the New England Patriots will become the dynasty of the 2000's.
8. There are currently 32 NFL teams, divided into eight divisions and, furthermore, into two conferences, the AFC and the NFC.
9. There are sixteen games in a season, played over seventeen weeks, with every team having a bye week sometime during the season.
10. The four division winners from each conference automatically go to the playoffs, with each conference having two wild card spots for the two teams with the best record that didn't make it to the playoffs. The twelve teams that make it to the playoffs begin by facing off against one another until a team is eliminated. This process of elimination continues to dwindle until their are two teams left, the victors of the AFC and NFC championship games. It is then that the Super Bowl is played between the two conference winners.
This concludes NFL football trivia.

Football - How To Know If You're A Football Fanatic

Image : http://www.flickr.com
Everyone knows that NFL football is the most popular sport in America. For that matter one could argue a case that football is the most popular sport in the world. It makes no difference what time of year it is to any football fan. True football fans live for any news on the NFL year round. Here is an amusing list of how to know if you're really a true football fanatic or not.
NFL Pre-Season Football
You know you're a real football fanatic if you watch every minute of televised NFL pre-season football. It doesn't matter to you if the games don't count in the standings. This is football! How else will you ever know if that street free agent quarterback from Southwest Montana State will become the next Joe Montana?
NFL Regular Season
This is what it's all about for the football fanatics. No one should plan anything that would interrupt you from watching the big games. With the remote in one hand and plenty of food and drink in the other, it's game time!
Clothing and Apparel
Any real NFL fan is going to have their favorite teams clothing on. This must have list includes hats, shirts, ties, socks, shorts, sweatshirts, winter parkas and pajamas.
Souvenirs
This is where football fans get really serious about their teams. You must have an autographed team football on display. You will also need to have an autographed authentic NFL football jersey of your favorite player hanging on the wall in a frame. Other popular souvenir items include glasses and cups with your team's logo on them. Optional items that most football fans have may include trash-cans, clocks, lamps, outdoor displays, shot glasses, posters, golf balls and bag, bumper decals, grill covers and license plate frames, all with your team logo on them.
Fantasy Football
When you're not spending time in front of the TV or computer watching an NFL football game, then you're playing fantasy football in local league. You constantly go over the stats and try to make trades to help your team win.
Computer
Don't forget to have your favorite football team's logo on your computer screen saver.
TV
You know you're a true NFL football fanatic when you go out and buy a new TV for the Super Bowl. You want to be sure you can have a new big screen for your party before the big game.
Super Bowl
The best day of the year! It's finally come time for the biggest football event of the year. You know you're a true fan if you sit and watch all 12 hours of the pre-game show. Nothing short of a medical emergency will keep you from missing a minute of the action, no matter whether your favorite team is involved or not.
Others know you're a football fanatic by the size of the Super Bowl party you have every year. This is your big moment and you're not going to blow it. Even after the big game is over, all is not lost. The season is not over just because the Super Bowl ended. You know that in a week the Pro-Bowl game will be on!

Things You Didn't Know About Transformers 2

Image : http://www.flickr.com
Revenge of the Fallen, which is the sequel to the first Transformers film is holding many people in suspense regarding many factors. The trailers and promos running on TV have further increased the excitement and anticipation of people regarding the movie which is scheduled to be released in the UK on June 19th, 2009.
Transformers 2 is going to be one of the major movies releasing this summer and is predicted to be much more special and successful than its prequel. There are three major spots on TV on which the promos of the movie are running and one of these is the Super Bowl TV spot.
The movie has already made one record even before its release, and that is the disk space that it has occupied, which is said to be one hundred and forty terabytes, which in itself is a record. This is mainly because of the extensive special effects that have been incorporated and the excellent quality of the animation used for the movie.
The budget for the film is colossal and is about $200 million. There has been a lot of excitement during the making of the movie, especially when the movie crew went to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and it was said by people that there were four Apache helicopters and also two choppers which had Chinese lettering on them. From this, the extensiveness of each scene of the movie can be well imagined.
Many of us probably also don't know that British are also appearing in the movie, as it has been rumoured that Matthew Marsden would be in the movie as a member of the British Special Forces. There are also many IMAX portions in the movie.
There has been a lot of innovation for the movie. From the $200 million intended budget, almost $4 million was left and was used up entirely for the awesome special effects incorporated in this sequel. Due to the use of these special effects, you would be even able to see the robots sweat and smirk, and in one scene Bumblebee is also shown crying. All this and much more has exclusively been possible due to the use of these special effects.
There is no surprise regarding the fact that Optimus Prime would once again be leading the Autobots. However, there does lay a little element of surprise in Megatron making a comeback as the leader of the Decepticons. Despite the news being kept secret by the director, it did leak out. In the Transformers 2, there are going to be almost twenty more robots than the prequel. This means that you should prepare yourselves for much more entertainment, action, and adventure.
Hans Zimmer who is considered to be one of the best music composers is composing the music for the movie. The horizons for the Transformers 2 are much more widely spread compared to its prequel, as is evident from the vast variety of diverse filming sites for the movie. This includes those within the US and also overseas. The most notable are Bethlehem, University of Pennsylvania, National Air and Space Museum, Princeton, Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, Alamogordo, Petra, Salt, Giza, Paris, Edwards Air Force Base, Luxor, Los Angeles, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Wadi Rum, and Philadelphia.

Online Video For Business - 3 Reasons Your Company Should Implement in 2010

Image : http://www.flickr.com
The Internet started as a text-only medium of communication with largely bulletin boards and eventually e-mail. It progressed to be a more interactive experience and expanded into millions of homes, beyond college campuses and technology institutes. Websites started including pictures, navigation, music, and other enhancements to appeal to viewers. By the end of the 1990s, Internet sites still relied mostly on pictures and sleek navigation to appeal to users. As YouTube skyrocketed in popularity, the integration of online video to professional Websites started to become more common place. Now, offering a Website with only pictures is like running a rental store with only silent movies; Web users and customers expect a more interactive experience, complete with videos of products, services, or people. Websites that include videos offer users more detailed information about products and services, give businesses an opportunity to control the way information is delivered, and increase the conversion rate of visitors to customers.
Captivate Your Audience and Capture Your Customer
One of the great advantages as a Web user to Websites with videos is the ability to see in more detail what one is buying before the purchase, or to learn more about a service before inquiring further. Before purchasing a movie ticket, viewers usually watch a trailer for the movie, showing them more about what they are paying to see. With an apartment complex or hotel, rather than just see lifeless still photos, videos allow people to see the community closer to the way they would actually see it if they were to visit in person, though inevitably somewhat idealized. Seeing people enjoying amenities through a web video is a lot more interesting than seeing pictures, though, because pictures are less capable of capturing the human element or evoking emotion. Another great benefit is seeing a product demonstration video about how a technology product actually works, step by step, so that the potential customer can see how easy it is to use, allaying fears about it being overly complicated or too technical to setup properly. A long, detailed text page with a few pictures about how the product works is a nice addition to video, but not a substitute. Unlike a site with just numerous navigational sections, pictures, and text, a video allows a business to control the way information is given to potential customers.
Better Control of Your Message
On an old Website, the only way to display information was in a logical fashion where the business hopes that visitors click around the site in some sort of sequential order. If a person clicks through the pricing section first, without seeing what the product does, or what services are offered, they may just close the site and go elsewhere. But if they have a video they can see on the home page about what a great product or service the business is offering, they will be less surprised when they see the price. Whereas with a standard Website, the visitor clicks around at will without having much direction, a prominent video on the home page gives them a starting point before looking for more information. It allows the business to control the way the information in the web video is displayed and how it is presented, giving back some control while at the same time giving the site visitor a lot more information that is helpful for their decision-making process as well, which makes them more likely to purchase a product or service from the business.
Improve Sales Conversions
While tracking of such statistics across a broad swath of the Internet is difficult, numerous sites have attested to Web videos converting visitors to clients at a much greater rate than sites with just text and pictures. One of the more well-published studies, by FindLaw (LawyerMarketing.com), indicated that visitors go to an average of 4.8 Websites to find an attorney, but when lawyers added video to their sites, the number dropped to 1.8. In other words, the presence of online video made visitors likely to select a lawyer much more quickly. The Discovery Channel Store did an independent study when the company added video to their e-commerce store and experienced an increase of 78% in sales when customers viewed the product video. A company called iAds integrated their video ads for Tandberg Video Systems, which had a conversion rate of 0.75 to 1.00 percent, but with videos the conversion increased to between 1.5 and 3.0 percent. Numerous such stories are available and there is no doubt that offering video on Websites helps businesses compete more effectively and gain more customers.
With the advance in broadband Internet connections and the high penetration such technology has seen in recent years, most customers have access either at home or at work to high-speed Internet, allowing them to view online videos that give them more information about products and services, help them make decisions with greater confidence, and give businesses greater tools to demonstrate what they offer. In the years to come, companies from all industries and across the Internet will be adding videos to compete more effectively and market themselves with greater confidence. The companies that adopt last will be losing business to companies that have cutting edge videos and quality products or services to offer. Ultimately, the reputation of a company and the products or services they offer will still remain the long-term key to success, but marketing remains an important part of any company's ability to attract new customers. The professionalism and class of the videos offered online will be the key to competing effectively for years to come.

Minnesota Vikings Jerseys and Apparel - The NFL's Bestsellers For 2009 Postseason

Image : http://www.flickr.com
Minnesota Vikings jerseys have been selling like crazy all season long, and why not? Everything about the Vikings has been a big story throughout the year and now fans wearing their Minnesota Vikings apparel are hoping that the team can keep it together and make a deep run through the playoffs... maybe even to the Super Bowl!
It all started in the off season, when the crazy Brett Favre rumors started swirling. Was he coming out of retirement? Is he injured or is he healthy and ready to play? Just when it seemed like he was finally done considering it, he changed his mind again and showed up to the team for the end of training camp.
Just like, Brett Favre Minnesota Vikings jerseys became the number 1 hot ticket item throughout the league. While many were skeptical at how good he would be after the end of his single season with the Jets, however he hushed those critics immediately. He has played excellent football, guiding his team to huge wins, last minute comebacks and a great regular season.
All the meanwhile he has put up huge numbers and has reined in his tendencies for throwing interceptions. It helps that he also has a fantastic running back like Adrian Peterson to throw the ball too. Peterson is another favorite for all of the Purple People Eaters in their Minnesota Vikings apparel. He's one of the best running backs in the league, perhaps the single best, and he's a true force.
Other offensive threats have also emerged, creating more options for fans looking to buy new Minnesota Vikings jerseys. Sidney Rice became one of the best playmaking wide receivers in the league for example. He and Favre have formed a great tandem, and they read each other very well.
The defense on the Vikings is also terrific. Jared Allen Minnesota Vikings jerseys have been bestsellers since he was first acquired two years ago. He's one of the fiercest defensive players in the game, and fans love his work ethic and overall attitude. He's just one of the big names on the defensive unit that can make a game changing play at any time.
So as you can see, there have been many reasons why Minnesota Vikings jerseys have been the bestselling options all year long. From the crazy Favre drama and his amazing year, to the breakout year of Sidney Rice and the continued dominance of Peterson and Allen, there is a lot to root for. So throw on your authentic Minnesota Vikings apparel and watch as the Vikings take on the rest of the NFC in the playoffs.
The 2009 playoffs are here, and for fans of the Vikings, there is plenty to talk about. You have a huge selection of discount Minnesota Vikings jerseys to choose from. That includes the likes of Brett Favre, Jared Allen and Adrian Peterson. You can visit Discount Football Merchandise for all of the Minnesota Vikings apparel that you need and you can find some fantastic prices. Then you can cheer on your team in style as they make a run to the Super Bowl!

Union Pacific Freight Lines May Be Used For Passengers For 2011 Super Bowl

Image : http://www.flickr.com
Many people probably don't realize that, unlike roads, rail lines are actually owned by individual railway companies. In some circumstances, the rail companies lease those lines to other rail companies for limited use. An interesting deal between Union Pacific and the Super Bowl host committee in Arlington, Texas may be struck to allow freight rail lines to be used by passenger trains on one day only - Super Bowl Sunday 2011.
The company has apparently been in talks with committee officials for several months over this rare agreement. One of UP's major freight lines runs from Fort Worth through the middle of Arlington and past Dallas. If a deal is struck, passengers headed to the Super Bowl at Cowboy Stadium could leave from rail stations in Fort Worth or Dallas. They would then be dropped off near downtown Arlington, less than a mile from the stadium. Shuttle buses would then take them to the game.
UP, one of the nation's busiest freight railroads does not operate passenger rail service at all. Super Bowl host committee members, hoping to get more than 100,000 out-of-town visitors to the game, want to run passenger cars along the freight lines for the game, easing the transportation crunch on game day.
Arlington is America's largest city without mass transit. Cowboys fans are limited to driving, taking shuttles from a Fort Worth rail station, or using a taxi, which can take hours.
Liability and union issues remain unresolved as do issues related to how UP's freight will move through the area during the 12-hour agreement window. Some of the freight UP normally moves through the region would be transferred to another local rail line. That line, however, has less capacity than UP's lines, so a resulting, albeit brief, slowdown could affect freight movements all the way to California.
Because of the high demand on their freight lines, the nation's largest freight railroads have not traditionally been quick to share their lines with passenger trains. Such requests have become more common though, especially as more local governments have expanded light rail and commuter rail service.
Because interstate passenger rail travel is not nearly as popular across the U.S. as in years past, many Americans are surprised to find that rail freight is still a very busy industry. Increased fuel prices and renewed attention to environmental issues continue to make rail freight a popular choice for shippers.
There are many rail freight companies to choose from and complicated intermodal issues to resolve when using rail freight. Freightquote can simplify the process though through its comprehensive online freight management system. Every aspect of intermodal freight shipment can be handled quickly and efficiently via the Freightquote web-based quoting and booking system. Tracking and payments are also all a part of the Freightquote.com solution.

Making Those Calories Count

Image : http://www.flickr.com
We all know that we should watch the amount of fatty foods we eat and incorporate some form of exercise in our daily lives every day for better health. You should know that one of the most successful tools in dieting is writing down what you eat as you eat it. Science has proven that people who do this actually lose 50% more than their counterparts who do not tally up their daily caloric and fat intake.
It make sense to keep track of what you're eating so that you can literally start "trimming the fat" out of your diet, and learn to eat good wholesome foods that can satisfy your hunger cues while coming up as big fat zeros in the fat department.
One way to discover what you really consume on a daily basis is to check out calorie and fat calculators for dieting on line. There is a huge amount of calorie and fat calculators for dieting on the internet, and each and every one of them seems to have their own special personality. Here is a tour of some of the most interesting calorie and fat calculators for dieting that we've found on line:
The Calorie King
This website really deserves to be named the King. It has a huge database of all kinds of food, including everything imaginable from the food pyramid, but has a large listing of name brand foods right in there too. Some of the best features of this particular calorie and fat calculator is that you can change the portion sizes right above the item(s) and the amount of calories and fat is figured out for each and every amount you input. Calories are there, alongside fat broken down into three or more categories. This is definitely the best one around.
The Calorie Control Council
This site really looked like it was going to be a lot of fun. The front page sports a bathroom scale in constant motion (if only it never stopped in real life!), and it looks very inviting. But once you click onto the online calculator, there are certain items that cause it to ask you for some personal information and well, some of us are just not ready to give any information on personal pudginess, so it was decided to go elsewhere for the information needed.
Nutrition Data
Now, this is a really fun site, although there is a lot going on in the space. There's a Daily Needs Calculator (who could resist someone who worries about your daily needs?) and even a food widget to download on a blog so you have the calorie and fat calculator for dieting on line right at your fingertips. It really is user friendly, and the response time is great for getting the information while you're running through the daily food intake. This site has a ton of places to make sure you're keeping track of all your calorie and fat facts to help you succeed in your dieting.

Detroit Lions Show Steady Improvement in 2009 NFL Season

Image : http://www.flickr.com
The Detroit Lions have no expectation for the 09' season really -- just don't go 0-16 and that will be good enough it seems. The Lions already improved in 09' winning in week 3 against the Washington Redskins 14-19 -- the teams first win since 07' against the Kansas City Chiefs in week 16. The Lions celebrated their first victory in years by high five-ing the fans in the crowd.
The Detroit Lions have a uphill climb in every sense of the word. The Lions are basically starting from scratch and at 0-16, the entire roster besides Calvin Johnson needed an overhaul. The most important position in football is the quarterback, the Lions are hoping QB Matthew Stafford will help the Lions reach a 8-8 or 7-9 record -- which by Lions standards that would be a great season.
The offense of the Lions ranks in the middle of the leagues teams, the defense is among the lower half in all major categories. The division the Lions play in, The NFC North, doesn't do them any good -- the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears are all improved from last season.
The Lions offense must not give away games and hand the opposing teams many turnovers. Rookie QB's turn the ball over often throwing interceptions, Matthew Stafford must stay calm and make smart decisions, easier said the done obviously. Hopefully in 09' the Lions can reach the .500 mark and maybe make the playoffs one year. If any city deserves a winning football team for once its Detroit, they have been beyond patient with their team.
Matthew Stafford can be the only one carrying the team, Calvin Johnson must play like one of the best wide receivers in the game and help make Stafford look good. The Detroit Lions might not win many games but better days surely lay ahead.
The Detroit Lions forum is full of excited fans. Head over for the best sports futures online.

Financial Benefits of Car Stickers

Image : http://www.flickr.com
Advertisements during the super bowl cost millions of dollars and so much work is put into them that many people will watch the entire Super Bowl without even a slight interest in football. With those kind of numbers you would think that commercials would be the most effective form of advertising.
It just isn't so. The cost of commercials is one of the highest cost-per-view forms of advertising there is. No less an authority than the U.S. Small business Administration has acknowledged as much and went on to say that static forms of advertising such as signs, banners and stickers are the least expensive and most effective forms of advertising there is.
There are a couple of reasons for this. One is the low initial investment. Especially for banners and stickers they can be downright cheap. Banners will usually cost less than one hundred dollars and car stickers are even less. The other reason that they are so effective is that once they are paid for they keep working twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, every week of the year in good weather and bad. You won't get that kind of coverage with any television campaign and to get any kind of regular spots it will cost a fortune.
There is a saying in business that goes like this: "You don't make money by working hard, you make money by getting other people to work hard for you." This is why Car stickers outperform other kinds of media. You can slap a car sticker on to your own vehicle and all other company vehicles and you will be discretely spreading your message throughout your area of operations. If you hand out those same stickers to your customers, suppliers and friends the buzz can grow exponentially.
Having a car sticker on different vehicles also works in an unusual manner. In a sense, anybody that sticks your logo on their car is giving you an endorsement. When a prospect sees numerous cars with your logo on them it will help overcome any objections they might have and also will also aid in spreading the word.
Car stickers can be designed as a single color silhouette or with multiple colors. The advantage of single colors is that they will usually last longer before fading and are also cheaper. If you have an eye catching logo you might be better off with the printed type of car sticker.
Rick has worked with graphics for over twenty years and can give you some more ideas on making bigger impact with less money. Please check out this website.

San Francisco 49ers Beat Seahawks, Improve to 2-0

Image : http://www.flickr.com
How about those San Francisco 49ers? After a disappointing 2008 campaign that showed some promises of hope, it looks like this Niners team is ready to deliver on that hope in 2009.
Coach Mike Singletary seems to have masterminded what is quickly becoming one of the better defensive units in pro football today. Led by Patrick Willis, the 49ers defense has held its competition to just 26 total points in each of the team's first two games.
The more impressive of the two victories was San Francisco's week one win over the Arizona Cardinals, in Arizona of all places. A 20-16 win shut down the defending NFC champions, surprising many football fans around the country.
Efficient play from Frank Gore at running back, coupled with a great defensive presence thus far, has largely been responsible for this resurgence. Ironically, the team looks like it's better off without 1st round draft pick Michael Crabtree, the wide receiver so many expected to change the face of this franchise.
Crabtree refused to play after becoming unhappy with the contract that another rookie wide receiver had been offered with the Raiders, and it looked as if the state of the 49ers was in disarray entering the season.
After that win at Arizona and another impressive win in week 2 against the visiting Seattle Seahawks, things are looking up for the San Francisco 49ers, and they're surprisingly leading the NFC West division after two weeks of football.
Is this just one of those fluke starts that we see a few teams pull off each year, or are the San Francisco 49ers the real deal in 2009?

Youth Football Team Struggling For Funds? Try Community Sponsorships

Image : http://www.flickr.com
Creating a youth football organization or team can run into some unusual challenges: where to play, how to get people to join the program, community involvement, funding etc. One strategy in overcoming multiple challenges is to gather local community sponsors. This article's intention is to give a couple pointers in extending invitations and garnering relationships with potential sponsors.
Make a plan
The first step is to make a plan. An old adage states, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." A plan will consist of some basic marketing skills. First, start with people that you know. Second, understand the benefits of sponsoring your organization. Third, make the call and close the deal.
Start with people that you know
In planning to get sponsors for your football organization begins simply as a list of people. This could be anyone from a CEO of a fortune 500 company to the local delivery boy. It is amazing how much businesses rely on social networking, and you are two steps ahead of the game if you have a name, or a tie in to that organization.
Also, try and expand your circle of influence in a variety of ways. Get your football players and their parents to join you in sponsoring efforts. This will not only help you expand your circle, but is an ideal invitation to get them and their businesses to sponsor your team.
Understand your benefits
Here is a lesson from marketing 101: no one wants to hear how much a sponsorship is going to help you...they want to hear how this is going to help them. The more that you hone your pitch towards their goals, and their success the more they will listen.
Take some time to construct your pitch. How would a company, individual, or organization benefit from sponsoring your football organization? Are there ways to promote their businesses at your games? Promote them on your football jerseys? Will giving to your organization help the community feel better about their business?
Make the call and close the deal
Before you continue reading, stop and ask yourself. "How afraid am I of asking for help?" If you are 100% afraid then either you don't believe enough in your cause or you haven't constructed a plan or pitch that is good enough. Start over and try again.
Now that we are ready to go lets start calling! Nothing will help your cause, pitch, or donations more then persistence. Realize that everyone is going to have their free choice. Not even the best marketers or salesman achieve 100% sales conversion. You will get rejected, but if you believe in your cause it will not deter you from trying again and again.
When ending your conversation ask for some donation. There are many styles of closing the sale. One strong tip is to avoid yes or no questions. Instead of asking, "Would you like to sponsor our community team?" Ask something like, "Would you like to donate with cash or a check?"
Conclusion
Remember that if you have a good cause people will join you. The most powerful thing that you can do for yourself and your team is answering the "why" question: "Why are you doing this?" The more powerful and resolute the answer is the better!

Sports Bedding and Decor Turns You Into the Ultimate Fan

Image : http://www.flickr.com
Now that Labor Day weekend is behind us and summer is coming to an end, it's time for some football! Are you ready to tailgate, fire up the grill, and bring out the pigskin?! Football is one of the greatest American pastimes and you need to be ready to hoot, holler, and cheer your favorite team to victory. So how do you plan on showing you're the ultimate sports fan?
Diehard tailgaters always have the BBQ ready and beer on ice. The infamous foam finger is always a popular way to show your team is #1. In addition to the foam finger there are many other props necessary at game time. You also have the classic D-Fence symbols, flags, horns, banners, pom-poms, stuffed mascots, plush team blankets to stay warm, and most importantly the beer hat. For the more serious fan there is war paint. Nothing says team spirit more then dying your hair and painting your body with your teams colors and logo.
What about those football parties at home? Do you have the ultimate game room? You know the one with the big flat screen TV with picture in picture, the wet bar with your team's logo on it, beer signs on the wall, team logoed bean bag chairs, banners, toss pillows and throws on the oversized couch, a pop corn machine, and a pool table. Of course this room will lead out to the BBQ pit where every imaginable game day food will be cooked up.
Who says football is just for the game room? If you are the ultimate sports fan it will show in your entire home. You can decorate an entire bedroom with a complete sports bedding set. Authentic jersey mesh comforters and shams look and feel just like a real players jersey. Accent the sports bedding set with throw pillows and plush blankets. Like reading the sports pages in bed, add a bed rest to prop your self up. Frame the windows with a team valance and drapes. Don't forget the walls, cover them with wall hangings and if your lucky an autographed picture of your favorite team in a winning game. Put your team's shower curtain up in the bathroom and a rug on the floor.
Now you have the gear to be the ultimate sports fan. Put on your foam finger; snuggle up under your favorite team's blanket while sitting on the couch or in the stands, and root for victory!

Gluten Free Cornbread - to Die For!

Image : http://www.flickr.com
There are so many great recipes out there now for gluten free living, that the rest of your family will want to eat these with you, as they taste so good.
Here is a great old-fashioned recipe for No Flour Cornbread that has no sweetener in it, as some of the modern versions have. Some of the old fashioned recipes tend to have more fat in them, but if you don't have a cholesterol problem, then check out the taste.
2 eggs
2 cups buttermilk
2 cups white cornmeal
1-teaspoon baking powder
1-teaspoon baking soda
¼ cup bacon grease
1 old fashioned skillet that is oven proof.
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
Mix first 5 ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix with a whisk.
Put bacon grease in the 10" skillet over medium high heat, and watch it carefully (don't want a grease fire!) when it gets good and hot, pour into the batter, stirring as you pour. Then pour the mixture back into the skillet.
Place the skillet on the middle rack of your oven, and bake until springy and pulling away from the sides.
Remove from oven and tip onto serving plate and serve with plenty of butter!
You can make different versions of this recipe. You can replace the bacon grease with margarine or other cooking oils, you can also cook the bread right on the stovetop for 15-20 minutes on med heat.. but watch it carefully.
This cornbread is great for stews, chili, anything...
So, if you have had to change your diet because of wheat gluten, then start collecting recipes, and keep some ingredients on hand for some of these great tasting recipes. You can also purchase many gluten free mixes now, and these would be great to keep in your pantry, for those days, you just don't know what to eat. When eating gluten free, it can be hard in the beginning, but if you stock your pantry and kitchen with lots of good gluten free choices, you will feel better, and your family will eat them right along with you. It doesn't hurt them to switch their grains once in a while!

Football Themed Party Decorating Ideas

Image : http://www.flickr.com
Decorating for a football themed party with family and friends can be fun, simple, and relatively inexpensive. When deciding which decorations to go for, think ahead about the teams playing in the game. You might want to decorate one side of the room with one team’s colors and the other side with the opposing team’s colors, that way guests can choose the side they support for some friendly competition at your party.
A piñata is a fun decoration that allows guests to become involved in a fun and sometimes hilarious activity. Guests can let out their energy after the game by picking up a bat and taking a swing at Super-bowl-fun.com’s football piñata. Also, colorful confetti is a great way to add a little glitter and glam to such a rugged, male-oriented sports party. Noisemakers can be placed with each place setting at a table as a decoration. Later, they’ll come in handy when your team scores that winning touchdown.
You’ll easily learn that your decorations can be functional as well as decorative! The staple meal at most football events consists of beer, chips, and easy finger foods. Themed paper cups, plates, bowls, and napkins can be purchased with football graphics and team logos, and paper products allow for easy cleanup and no damage to your dishes with a rowdy crowd.
Purchase kits online for your football themed party, enabling you to make your party entirely customizable. Team specific decorations will impress your friends and get them excited about the sport and the game they came to watch. Some activities for the kids can double as decorations by having a coloring contest. This is also a fun way to keep the children busy. Remeber to enjoy your event and so will your guests!
